How the Spokane Valley Residents Directory Works

Spokane Valley is home to more than 110,000 residents and sits just east of the city of Spokane. It is part of Spokane County. Many services run on contract with the county. The Spokane Valley Police Department is staffed by the Spokane County Sheriff's Office. District court, prosecutor, public defender, probation, and jail services all come through the county as well. That means many records searches end at the county level.

The Spokane Valley Police Department is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency. It responds to about 50,000 calls each year for the city. Because SVPD is run under contract with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, all law enforcement reports are pulled from the Sheriff's Public Records Department. Call 509-477-1721 or use the Sheriff's online records portal.

This split matters. If you request a police record directly from Spokane Valley City Hall, staff will forward you to the Sheriff's Office. Start there to save time. For statewide criminal history, the Washington State Patrol WATCH system returns felony and misdemeanor convictions from Washington courts for $11 per name-based search. RCW 10.97 limits non-conviction data release.

See the Spokane Valley Police page for direct contact details.

Note: Because SVPD uses the Sheriff's records system, you may need to reference both agencies when you file a request for a specific incident.
